About
A book presentation and reading with author Whiti Hereaka, part of the Humboldt Forum series „Objekte widersprechen“. At its centre is a traditional Māori comb labelled „Zugang ungeklärt“ („access unexplained“) by the museum, which Hereaka adorns in nine sections – „one part for each tooth and one part for each gap between them“ – with stories of love, loss, Māori deities and colonial whalers. The award-winning novelist and playwright of Māori and Pākehā descent lives in Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand, and has written four novels as well as the anthology „Pūrākau“. The event includes a reading, a conversation with curator Priya Basil, questions from the audience and a book signing.
