About
A tour through the New Synagogue Berlin and the surrounding area in the Spandauer Vorstadt, held as part of the Jewish Culture Days. Using examples from religious texts and modern conflicts within Jewish groups, it explores the history of queerness in Judaism. It looks at the lives of queer Jews such as the resistance fighter Herbert Budzidzslawski and the social worker Hannah Karminski, who both lived, loved and fought very close to the building. It also addresses the traditional role of women in Judaism and Jewish women such as Regina Jonas, the first female rabbi in world history.
