Buchhandlung am Schäfersee hosts an author reading that is accompanied by sign language interpreters. Kerstin Ehmer reads from her book „Heldinnen der Meere: Sechszehn Frauen und ihr Leben für die Ozeane” about sixteen women who dedicated their lives to protecting, exploring and saving the oceans. Across 16 chapters she portrays figures ranging from marine biologists and activists to the Icelander Thurídur Einarsdóttir, who in the 19th century sailed as a fearless "Vormann" of several fishing boats. They also include names such as Virginia Woolf and Elisabeth Mann Borgese.
