About
The »East Meets West« matinee is a world-music event with the Wu Wei Trio in the Great Hall of the Philharmonie. Behind it are the Freunde der Berliner Philharmoniker e. V. The trio – Wu Wei on the Chinese mouth organ sheng, Martin Stegner on viola and Janne Saksala on double bass – performs world music and jazz as well as works from Monteverdi and Vivaldi to the modern era, with Martin Stegner moderating. Wu Wei, whose sheng looks back on a 4,000-year history and for whom more than 400 works have been written, for instance by Unsuk Chin and Tan Dun, promises an exciting journey through space and time.
