About
„Musikkollektiv - Weltmusik aus Berlin” is a concert series of world music in the styles of swing, tango, klezmer and bossa nova. At its centre is Trio SCHO, founded in 1991 in the Ukrainian city of Poltava and based in Berlin since 1994. The trio, with Gennadij Desatnik, Valeriy Khoryshman and Alexander Franz, plays Russian songs and instrumental pieces from the „Golden Twenties” to the present as well as its own songs, Russian swing and bossa nova. The name „SCHO” comes from the Ukrainian slang word „schjo”, meaning roughly „What is it supposed to be?!” – for the trio it means „We make music, our music!”
