Susan Hiller: The J. Street Project
Grüner Salon, Rückerstraße 9, 10178 Berlin, Mitte
About
An evening with a film screening and a talk devoted to Susan Hiller's project "The J. Street Project", held on the occasion of her exhibition "Bad Dreams" at the KW Institute for Contemporary Art. The Berliner Künstlerprogramm des DAAD and KW present the 67-minute film, which Hiller made between 2002 and 2005, when she visited 303 places in Germany whose street names preserve traces of a vanished Jewish presence – together the names become a kind of unconscious memorial hidden in plain sight. Following an introduction by Jörg Heiser, Barbara Casavecchia joins for a conversation on questions of memory, absence and place. The event takes place at Grüner Salon.
