Nachtschatten: Niklaus Schilling's dark romantic feature.

"Nachtschatten" is a feature film about Jan Eckmann from Hamburg, who seeks quiet and wants to buy a house in the Lüneburg Heath. During the viewing, the owner Elena Berg behaves most strangely and casts a spell on Jan, as if he were falling out of his own life and making contact with another, older time. Behind the film stands Niklaus Schilling, a filmmaker born in Switzerland who found his way to cinema in the milieu of the Munich group. His first feature translates the literary tradition of Dark Romanticism into velvety, dreamlike, decelerated images, condensing horror and vampire motifs, longing for death and love-death into an excursion on storytelling in film.
