Multimedia lecture on Upper Italy in Verdi's footsteps.
Oberitalien: Eine Reise auf den Spuren Giuseppe Verdis
About
A multimedia lecture on Upper Italy, the regions on the sunny side of the Alps with countless art treasures from the Middle Ages to Classicism, from Milan Cathedral to Venice. Hosted by the Volkshochschule Berlin Lichtenberg "Margarete-Steffin", Peter Jaeger follows the traces of Giuseppe Verdi, who was born there in 1813 and began his musical training there. The journey visits places such as Padua, Vicenza, Bologna and Parma, opera houses where his works premiered such as La Scala and La Fenice, festivals in Pesaro and Bergamo, and the Festa dell'Opera in Brescia, where the old town becomes an opera stage for one weekend each June.
