Gwendolyn Sasse on Germany's images of Russia: book talk.
Russland - Eine deutsche Erfindung
About
A book presentation and conversation with political scientist Gwendolyn Sasse about her book "Russland - Eine deutsche Erfindung" at the Janusz-Korczak-Bibliothek in Pankow. The event is part of the cooperation project "Wissen zwischen Büchern" and is organised by the Centre for East European and International Studies. Sasse asks why many Germans still view Russia positively despite its war of aggression against Ukraine, and why so many are susceptible to Russian propaganda. Drawing on surveys, interviews and discussion rounds, she traces present-day German images of Russia, showing that when Germans talk about Russia, they are above all talking about themselves.
