About
The Shadows is a theatre piece by the Shieveh Theater Company from Tehran, built on real, documented stories of war, displacement and loss. The group, led by text and direction from Afsaneh Mahian, has existed for over 25 years and already moved HAU audiences in 2024 with its work The Child. The performance links these stories to the ancient figures of Iocaste, Antigone and Medea, raising existential and political questions of guilt, law and personal responsibility. The piece is in Persian with German and English surtitles and lasts 100 minutes.
