About
Slow Stitch is a free weekly creative get-together at Museum Reinickendorf where anyone can simply drop in and join, with no registration needed. It was initiated by the artist Jessica Voce, who is now returning to England, and is being continued independently by three women. Slow Stitch means decorative hand sewing with a simple running stitch in contrasting thread, a communal art form rooted in the Bengali Kantha. The slow pace of the sewing is said to calm the mind as a counterbalance to the speed of modern life, and the group welcomes all ages, genders, backgrounds and levels of experience, with materials and refreshments provided.
