About

The Image Is a Public Menace is a solo exhibition at Galerie Nagel Draxler in Berlin. It comes from Abdulnasser Gharem, one of the most influential contemporary artists in the Gulf region, and gathers three new projects: Aniconism 2026, The Unscored Goal 2026 and The Image is a Public Menace (Neon), 2026. Aniconism — the practice or belief of avoiding visual representation of divine beings, sacred figures or living creatures — runs through the show, alongside questions of how history is pictured and who holds the authority to represent it.
