About
»Art War« is a German documentary by Marco Wilms about graffiti, street art and music emerging as forms of expression after the fall of Hosni Mubarak and during the Arab Spring. Over two years it follows the musician Ramy Essam, electropop singer Bosaina and young artists including Mohamad Fahmy (Ganzeer), Ammar Abo Bakr, Mohamed Khaled and Alaa Awad. The film shows how these young artists use their art as a weapon, as an expression of protest and as a memorial to martyrs of the protests. It opens the series »Galerie Straße – Streetart Revisited« and is shown in the presence of the director.
