About

URBAN ORGANISMS is an exhibition in the reading room „Karthago“ of the Staatsbibliothek zu Berlin. The artist Käthe Wenzel, professor for aesthetic practice at the Europa Universität Flensburg, collects micro-local plants and materials in her weed-based urban color lab Urban Ink Lab and develops from them colored material captures of places. These color charts resemble abstract paintings and connect color and place in a special way, comparable to surveying and cartography. Wenzel explores urban places in Berlin through the lens of micro-local colors, works on urban wastelands, circles the interfaces of art and science, and always keeps the social malleability of urban coexistence in view.
