About

“Urform – Claire de Santa Coloma” is an exhibition built around an installation of wood sculptures that runs through several rooms. It presents work by the Argentine sculptor Claire de Santa Coloma (born 1983 in Buenos Aires), who hand-finishes found pieces of wood with as little intervention as possible; the shapes recall water-smoothed stones, organs or eggs and connect to Brâncuși's abstract language. The sculptures are placed on purpose-made plinths reminiscent of worktables and can be touched. In the first room the gallery also shows a 60-part block of new paintings on paper by the Leipzig artist Franziska Holstein.
