About
In the foyer of the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Götz-Friedrich-Preis for music theatre directing is awarded. The honourees are Giulia Giammona for her staging of Hindemith's Cardillac at the Staatstheater Meiningen and Elena Maria Artisi for Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor at the Theater Altenburg Gera; for the first time the jury chose two laureates. For more than twenty-five years the prize has supported outstanding directing talent and since the 22/23 season it has returned to the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the main workplace of its namesake. The programme features appearances by the laureates and other members of the house, hosted by Beate Breidenbach; admission is free.
