About
A WERKSTADTGESPRÄCH, a discussion about the naming of Arndtstraße and the person it was named after. Historian Hannah Lotte Lund, who has examined Ernst Moritz Arndt's biography and in particular his reception under National Socialism, talks with Clara Westendorff about her research. It concerns the street named in 1879 in honour of the professor of philosophy and history and champion of the national unity movement, whose song „Was ist des Deutschen Vaterland“ served as the unofficial anthem. Today Arndt is also known for his anti-French and aggressive nationalism and antisemitic statements, and the National Socialists used his work for propaganda. Entry is free, no registration is needed, and access is wheelchair accessible.
