“Wir sind am Leben – Das Berlin Musical” is a large-scale musical about Berlin in the 1990s. It comes from Peter Plate and Ulf Leo Sommer, who previously had success with Ku’damm 56, Ku’damm 59, Romeo & Julia – Liebe ist alles and Die Amme; the music of Rosenstolz became cult. The story is set in Berlin in 1990, after the fall of the Wall: Nina, Mario and their mother Rosi search for their place in the city amid the chaos of the post-reunification years, finding a wild community in the old building “Konsum Hoffnung”. The show is fast-paced, funny and deeply emotional, is said to be celebrated nightly with standing ovations, and has already been seen by more than 100,000 spectators.
