1946: a turning point for Italian Women – Anglo-Italian encounters
London School of Economics and Political Science, Houghton Street, WC2A 2AE London, Covent Garden
About
An evening exploring Anglo-Italian history in the archives, built around a pop-up exhibition on 1946 as a decisive turning point in the political and civic history of Italian women. It is presented by the Italian Chamber of Deputies in collaboration with the Italian Cultural Institute in London, and hosted by LSE Library. The display traces the long struggle for women's suffrage, the first vote, the election of the first 21 women to the Constituent Assembly, and the transnational networks linking Italy and Britain. Fabrizio Castaldi, Secretary General of the Italian Chamber of Deputies, introduces the event, followed by a drinks reception where curators can be met.
