About

A lecture marking Remembrance Week, part of the Irish Cultural Centre's programme. Bro. Nigel Cave, one of the foremost authorities on the life of Fr Willie Doyle MC SJ, explores the Dublin-born Jesuit priest's service as a military chaplain with the 16th (Irish) Division during the First World War. Fr Doyle, awarded the Military Cross for gallantry, was killed in 1917 during the Battle of Passchendaele while trying to reach wounded soldiers, and his cause for canonisation is progressing. The talk will draw on years of research into his ministry, bravery and enduring legacy as a figure of faith and self-sacrifice.
