The Albion Orchestra performs an evening of drama and resilience at St Gabriel's, Pimlico, conducted by Stone Tung. The programme opens with Britten's Sinfonia da Requiem, a powerful response to the devastation of war that moves towards a defiant conclusion, and culminates in Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5, written under intense political pressure in Soviet Russia, journeying from profound sorrow to a monumental finale.
