About

"Allen Jones: In Town Tonight" is a solo exhibition of new and earlier work by the artist Allen Jones, presented at the London gallery Gazelli Art House during Frieze Week. Jones, a British artist born in Southampton in 1937 and a defining figure of British Pop Art, has worked for more than six decades in painting, sculpture, printmaking and photography. The exhibition pairs substantial new work made between 2024 and 2026 with significant pieces from across his career, centring on his investigation of the human figure, performance and the relationship between image and object. At its heart is a new series of shaped canvas paintings whose intense green, yellow and red evoke a theatre, where spotlights pick out performers' bodies observed from opera boxes.
