About

Bobbin ‘n’ Weavin is a hands-on mending, patching and sewing workshop where guests bring their own garments to be repaired and adorned with cultural symbols, exploring heritage, identity and material culture. It is led by artist Martin King, who also offers alterations, and treats the mending as both a material and a cultural repair. Participants receive a reflective prompt beforehand and an encouraged reading list spanning works by authors such as W. E. B. Du Bois and Audre Lorde. Taking place on Halloween, the workshop invites thought on how we may mask or unmask our identities.
