Takács Quartet play Haydn, Brahms and Carlos Simon.

The Takács Quartet, Wigmore Hall's Associate Artist, performs a string quartet concert pairing Haydn and Brahms with Carlos Simon's contemporary work 'Warmth from Other Suns'. Simon's three-movement score, inspired by Isabel Wilkerson's book, evokes the Great Migration of African-Americans from the rural South to the urban West, Midwest and Northeast. The concert, roughly two hours including an interval, features Haydn's String Quartet in G Op. 77 No. 1 and Brahms's String Quartet in C minor Op. 51 No. 1. It is dedicated to Lilian Hochhauser in celebration of her 100th birthday.
