Gabriela Lena Frank, Haydn and Schubert: the Takács Quartet.
- Wigmore Hall

About
The Takács Quartet plays an evening of string quartets at Wigmore Hall, pairing works by Haydn and Schubert with Gabriela Lena Frank's Quijotadas. The programme opens with Haydn's String Quartet in C Op. 20 No. 2, followed by Frank's Quijotadas (2007), inspired by episodes from Miguel de Cervantes's novel Don Quixote and reflecting upon the hopelessly romantic ideals of its hero. After the interval, the ensemble devotes the second half to Schubert's String Quartet in D minor D810 'Death and the Maiden'. The four players are Edward Dusinberre and Harumi Rhodes on violin, Richard O'Neill on viola and Mihai Marica on cello.
