Brodsky Quartet: Bach, Britten and Bridge
Royal College of Music Museum, Knightsbridge
£11.50 (incl ticket fee)
About
A chamber concert by the Brodsky Quartet, joined by RCM string players, in the Performance Hall. The programme features arrangements of Bach solo sonatas for string quartet, Beethoven's String Quartet in C minor Op. 18 No. 4, Bridge's Second Idyll from Three Idylls H67, and Britten's Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge. Bridge dedicated his Three Idylls to Ethel Elmore Sinclair, whom he met while performing in the Royal College of Music Symphony Orchestra, and Britten, his most notable pupil and fellow RCM alumnus, wrote his Variations inspired by the second Idyll. The performance hints at the personality of Britten's mentor.
