#CommunityLegacies Indian Music workshops

A workshop on Indian vocal music, part of the '#CommunityLegacies' series under the banner 'Distinct but Together - Many shades of colour', open to people aged 16 and over. This session, 'Shades of Classical Hindustani: Raga Exploration', dives into the concept of Raga, the melodic framework, learning a simple morning or evening composition with a focus on meend (glides) and shruti (microtones). It is linked to Wise Thoughts and Niranjan Kamatkar, whose hashtags appear alongside it, and aims to build foundational technique while fostering a deep, empathetic connection to the storied heritage of Indian vocal expression. It forms week 2 of 6 sessions, which together explore how individual voices remain distinct while harmonizing as a collective whole, from Hindustani classical to folk and devotional traditions.
