Feasting for Christmas: a Georgian festive cookery talk.
- Handel & Hendrix
- £25
About
A demonstration of how people in Georgian times prepared their festive feasting, showing the treats that appeared on their Christmas tables and how the season was celebrated within family and small communities. Food historians Marc Meltonville and Robert Hoare lead the demonstration at Handel & Hendrix, with cooks following original recipes and techniques using replicas of historic kitchen tools. The gentrified classes marked the season with lavish feasting, including big roast meat centre-pieces and puddings. The event includes a glass of seasonal punch following an 18th century recipe.
