About
An online seminar in the Freudian Research Seminar Series, delivered as a paper and followed by a discussion. Speaker Panos Liakos, an MPhil researcher in Film Studies at the University of West London, offers a psychoanalytic and spatial reading of Kane Parsons' 'Backrooms'. Drawing on Gaston Bachelard's concept of 'topoanalysis' and Freud's uncanny, the paper argues that the film imagines the unconscious as a digital architecture in which memory, shame, and domestic fantasy are endlessly displaced rather than sheltered. Registrants join via Zoom and can watch back a recording for three months.
