About
Hadestown is a musical at the Lyric Theatre in London, currently playing and booking through to December 2027. Music, lyrics and book are by singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell, developed with and directed by Rachel Chavkin, and produced in London by Mara Isaacs, Dale Franzen, Hunter Arnold, Tom Kirdahy and the National Theatre in association with JAS Theatricals. It intertwines two mythic love stories: Eurydice makes a desperate decision to work in Hades' hellish factory to escape poverty and the cold winter, and Orpheus, separated from her, embarks on a dangerous quest to bring her back, alongside the story of Hades and Persephone, with figures like Hermes and the Fates. The winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Theatre Album, the show has been acclaimed as an epic celebration of music, togetherness and hope.
