About
Limehouse de Reverie is a night of live old-time, 1920s, '30s and '40s jazz and swing at Jamboree, with three sets from 8.30pm and a late-night jam from 11.30pm till 12.30am. The resident players are Ewan Bleach's Cable Street Rag Band, a band formed at the Cable Street studios in Limehouse. They play rags, blues, song-book foxtrots, swing numbers and other dance music from around the world, including waltzes, beguines, tangos and the odd polkas, all dating from the 1850s-1940s; the band features Ewan Bleach on saxophones, clarinets and vocals, Lewis Taylor on trumpet and vocals, John Kelly on guitar and Joe Dessauer on drums. Before the concert, from 7pm to 8pm, Lesta Woo presents a drop-in, open level swing dance class with no prior experience required.
