About
Lapazoos DUO + Thursday Throwdown WITH Ruby Robinson is a night of live music at Nightjar, pairing the band's early New Orleans-inspired blues and swing from the 1920s and 30s with a free throwdown set. The Lapazoos, a regular fixture at the venue, feature Graham Hughes, Laurence Corns, Dominic Pipkin and Ben Hazleton, with lots of vocals, excellent jazz and light-hearted fun. Singer Ruby Robinson joins the bill; she has performed across the UK at venues such as Ronnie Scott's, The Crazy Coqs, Café de Paris and The Pheasantry, and draws on jazz divas like Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday. She brings a timeless approach to tunes from the Great American Songbook, known for her stage presence, stylistic technique and warm tones.
