Lines of Enquiry: Graphic Arts and the Afterlives of Material Past
Society of Antiquaries, Mayfair
About
Lines of Enquiry: Graphic Arts and the Afterlives of Material Past is the Society of Antiquaries' annual Collections and Research Day, focusing this year on its Prints and Drawings collection of works on paper from the sixteenth to the twentieth centuries. The event is hosted by the Society of Antiquaries and presents the work of early career researchers and collections professionals. It examines how images shape knowledge production and circulation, mediate encounters with lost and extant objects and buildings, and contribute to the study of the material past, from early modern prints to contemporary graphic practices. The keynote, 'Towers and Transformations: 40 years of printmaking by Anne Desmet RA', spans her career as artist-printmaker, and attendees can also visit curated displays at the library of either the Royal Academy of Arts or the Linnaean Society.
