About

A one-day workshop at the National Gallery's Roden Centre for Creative Learning for anyone aged 18 or over, from amateur to professional artists. It is led by artist, researcher and educator Tom Lovelace, who draws on his 'Living Pictures' series and doctoral research at the University of Westminster. The workshop explores how artists develop their creative identity, using the National Gallery Collection as a starting point for reflecting on your influences and how your work relates to the wider art world. Through active looking, group discussion and practical writing exercises, you will also learn how to frame your work with language, from titling to artist statements.
