Marina Gržinić & Aina Šmid: Underground Experiments
Institute of Contemporary Arts, The Mall, London, Covent Garden
About
A cinema programme presenting six experimental video works made between 1984 and 1997. It was created by Marina Gržinić and Aina Šmid, two artists who have collaborated in video and media art in Ljubljana since 1982. Their works engage with identity, gender, memory, geography, technology and the politics of representation, spanning the late-socialist period, the dissolution of Yugoslavia and the emergence of post-socialist conditions. The London-based platform TLC23, initiated by Katie Shannon and Keira Fox, has been in exchange with Gržinić and presents this first London cinema screening of the collection.
