Moonlight Sonata by Candlelight
St Mary le Strand, Strand, WC2R 1ES London, Covent Garden
About
Moonlight Sonata by Candlelight is a candlelit piano recital at the church of St Mary le Strand, centred on Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata. It is performed by the renowned concert pianist Warren Mailley-Smith, who has a large following across the UK and in 2015 performed the complete solo works of Chopin from memory. The programme also includes works by Chopin, Liszt, Grieg, Rachmaninov and Debussy, ending with the Moonlight Sonata. The church setting and nearby bars and restaurants make it a full evening out.
