About
An afternoon event from the Native Spirit Film Festival, guest-curated by Zain Gibson, combining short experimental films with a writing activation and a feature screening. It gathers up to 40 minutes of experimental shorts by Indigenous filmmakers exploring ancestry and identity, introduced before the audience takes part in a writing response. These shorts come from Brazil, Colombia, Canada and Greenland, and look at how their makers maintain traditions, practices and belief systems looking to the future. They are followed by the feature film MUNDURUKUYÜ – The Forest Of The Fish Women, in which three women of the Daje Kapap Eypi audiovisual collective take up the camera as a weapon in defence of their ancestry, preserving and transmitting their Munduruku mythology of the world's origins, when humans transformed into forests, plants and animals.
