About

A cinema screening of Smoke Signals, introduced with a video by Indigenous Caribbean filmmaker Akley Olten. The film is presented by NEVER WATCHING MOVIES and is the first feature written, directed and produced by an all Native American filmmaking crew, winning the audience award and filmmaker trophy at Sundance 1998. It follows childhood friends Victor and Thomas as they travel off their reservation for the first time after news of Victor's father's passing.

Critics

7.0Good

Critics praise the warm, funny odd-couple dynamic, the strong cast and performances, and the fresh Native perspective. Some find the humor uneven or occasionally annoying, and the tone sometimes forced or stilted.
