My Father and Qaddafi
Picturehouse Central, Great Windmill Street, W1D 7DH London, Covent Garden
About
A documentary in which filmmaker Jihan retraces the disappearance of her father, Mansur Rashid Kikhia, Libya's former Foreign Minister who vanished during a trip to Cairo in 1993 while living in exile as an opposition leader against Qaddafi's regime. Mixing personal and state archives with her own experiences and those of her family, she takes the audience on a raw, thought-provoking journey showing that the personal and the political cannot be separated. The film is directed by Jihan and lasts 88 minutes.

Critics
Critics praise an intimate, moving debut that skillfully blends home footage and archives to portray grief and Libya's political history. Some fault its heavy historical exposition, which occasionally creates emotional distance and dilutes the personal passages.
