Painting the French Riviera at the Royal Academy
Royal Academy, Burlington Gardens 6, W1S 3ET London, Mayfair
About
The exhibition "Painting the French Riviera" shows how the French Riviera inspired and supported the rise of modern art, with more than 160 works including paintings, sculpture, books, travel posters and film, from the 1870s to the 1960s. It is held by the Royal Academy, which selected 15 original vintage travel posters from AntikBar for the show, displayed in Gallery 9. The paintings include works by Cezanne, Monet, Picasso, Bonnard, Signac, Matisse and Klein among others, plus a video of Le Train Bleu produced by Diaghilev's Ballets Russes. The exhibition is on in the Main Galleries at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London, from 2 October 2026 to 31 January 2027, open Tue-Thu and Sun 10am-6pm, Fri and Sat 10am-9pm.
