About
An exhibition marking one hundred years since the Peckham Experiment, exploring what it means to be truly healthy. In 1926, doctors Innes Hope Pearse and George Scott Williamson began a radical experiment in Peckham, growing from a small family club on Queen's Road into the purpose-built Pioneer Centre, where local families came for health overhauls as well as to swim, dance, eat, learn, play and organise activities of their own. Designed and curated by the Pex creative team of Nina Farrell, Asa Medhurst, Dan Liston and Stephen Hardingham, the exhibition brings together archive photographs, films, documents, objects and the voices of former members alongside contemporary art by featured artists including Heretic Spectral Nation, Maxim Medurst, Dr Jini Rawlings, Gavin Renz, Ilona Sager, Sean Thornhill, Priscilla Watkins, Richard Waterhouse, William Waterhouse, Tisna Westerhof. It forms part of The Peckham Experiment at 100, a centenary programme of films, archive work, tours, creative projects and public conversations.
