The Assassin
The Garden Cinema, Parker Street 39-41, WC2B 5PQ London, Holborn
About
The Assassin is a wuxia film about Nie Yinniang, a general's daughter trained by a nun as an exceptional assassin who is sent back to her birthplace with orders to kill the cousin she was once betrothed to, now the leader of the largest independent military region in North China. It is the final feature film by Hou Hsiao-hsien, who reunites with leading actress Shu Qi in a sublime, impressionistic take on the genre, also starring Chang Chen, Zhou Yun and Satoshi Tsumabuki.
