About
The Juniper Tree is a satirical, cabaret-style comedy performance with music, dance and puppetry, adapting the Brothers Grimm fairytale of the same name. It was written by Marta Paula and tells of a family struck by tragedy when their young boy is murdered: he returns as a bird and sings his story to a goldsmith, a shoemaker and a miller in hope of reuniting with his family. The darkly funny show blends reality and fantasy through experimental music, characters on different timelines and crossovers with Hans Christian Andersen's The Red Shoes. It is part of the VOILA! Festival and is recommended for ages 12 and up.
