About

A screening of the horror comedy "Theatre of Blood". Douglas Hickox directed this 1973 British film, in which Vincent Price plays Edward Lionhart, a veteran Shakespearean actor who takes deadly revenge on the critics who snubbed him after he was passed over for the Critic's Circle award for Best Actor. The cast also includes Diana Rigg, Harry Andrews, Jack Hawkins and Arthur Lowe in what is described as a dementedly funny and deliciously macabre cult classic.

Critics

7.8Very good

Critics praise Vincent Price's exuberant, theatrical performance and the film's gleeful blend of horror and black comedy. Some fault a derivative premise, a predictable and tedious final act, and murders that occasionally turn merely unpleasant rather than fun.
