About
A guided tour exploring the lives of women in Southwark and the impact they have made on the local area and beyond. It is run by Southwark Cathedral and covers women connected to the cathedral, from Victorian pioneers such as Octavia Hill and Isabella Gilmore to benefactors like Dorothy Appleby and Elizabeth Newcomen, who funded help for poor people in south London. The tour also uncovers the impact of Queen Mary I on the cathedral's life. It is open to people who live or work in Bankside.
