About
An evening of poetry celebrating the sonnet, one of the most enduring lyric forms in English, held in the Members' Room of a historic New York library and open to the public. It marks the 25th anniversary of The Penguin Book of the Sonnet: 500 Years of a Classic Tradition in English, whose anthologist, poet Phillis Levin, appears with Jonathan Galassi, Shane McCrae, Diane Mehta, Jason Schneiderman, and Tom Sleigh. The poets will read favorite sonnets from across the centuries and draw connections between the classic form and their own work, with remarks on the tradition by Jonathan Galassi. Audience questions and sonnet requests are welcomed, and light refreshments will be served.
