Amanda Marchand and Leah Sobsey: botanical photography.

Rick Wester Fine Art presents a selection of recent works by Amanda Marchand and Leah Sobsey, on view through December 30, 2026. The two artists have collaborated on alternative photographic projects for the past five years. Their work spans 'This Earthen Door', an Emily Dickinson-inspired series of reworked images from scans of the poet's herbarium of pressed flowers, and 'Understory', which draws on the archive of the New York Botanical Garden and its staff photographer Fleda Griffith. The project highlights women who have historically remained at the margins of scientific and photographic recognition, re-engaging Griffith's legacy to reframe questions of visibility and historical memory.
