Sharon Core: Flowering

"Flowering" is an exhibition of new and recent photographs by Sharon Core at the Yancey Richardson Gallery, on view from October 22 through December 19, 2026. Core's pictures examine the expressive qualities of plants and perennials as both types and singular forms, documenting varieties she cultivated in her own garden at different stages of their life-cycle, from first flowering to withered end. Made digitally against a stark white background with a clinical, quasi-scientific edge, the images build on a project that restaged three hundred years of floral painting in Western art, while some of the pictured rare varieties serve equally as studies and memorials. An opening reception is held on Thursday, October 22 from 6 to 8 PM.
