About
The April Varner Quartet is a live jazz show at The Django, a jazz room on the cellar level of the Roxy Hotel. It is led by vocalist April Varner, a Toledo-born New Yorker praised by DownBeat as an artist with impressive range, joined by William Hill III on piano, Isaac Beaumont on bass and Zach Adleman on drums. Varner is a bebop technician and contemporary storyteller known for her growing mastery of the American Songbook and her creative approach to the vocalese tradition. Her music has drawn wide recognition, from the New York City Jazz Record and NPR affiliate WRTI to UK Jazz News, and her online solo transcriptions have gone viral.
