Art for Art House: The Posters of Peter Strausfeld

Art for Art House: The Posters of Peter Strausfeld is an exhibition of striking linocut film posters. It celebrates German-born artist Peter Strausfeld, who made more than 300 posters for London's legendary Academy Cinema from 1945 onward. The Academy was a leading art house from 1931 to 1986, introducing audiences to filmmakers like Fellini, Kurosawa, Truffaut, Bergman, Wajda, and Ray. His posters captured the spirit of each film rather than its stars or scenes, and the works on view come largely from the collection of Michael Lellouche.
